Fishing in Woman's Bay

These pictures are from about a month ago. Our neighbors invited us to go fishing with them just outside the base on a beautiful sunny evening and we couldn't resist. It was the only fishing we did this summer, brief as it was, and we didn't catch anything but a good time was had by all.

All I can say about this picture is... brrr!

Catch of the day! I actually 'caught' a whole plant later on but couldn't quite juggle the fishing pole and the camera and the two dogs leashes to get a picture. (-:

Joshua actually did catch a fish but it broke free before he got it reeled in all the way... so close!

While we were fishing this NOAA ship came by and I thought it looked really cool so I got a picture for my blog.

There are a whole lot of these float planes around, I see one just about every time I go into town, often more then one...so I got a picture of it, too. (-:

I think this is a cool view of the base.
Jelly fish were all over the place, very popular with kids and dogs...keeping them away was fun. Lol!

Miriam reeling in her line. What a cutie!

Samuel brought his raft and the boys had a blast paddling around, not too far from shore...Samuel's parents had the boys tie the raft to shore with a long rope so they didn't drift too far out. Clever!

Zipline

There are certain advantages to being good friends with your neighbors...such as having another house available for the acting out of a boys fertile imagination...

Preparing to launch...

...and, he's away!

Zipping over the fence into our yard.

Samuel get set up...

...and away he goes!

Of course, they didn't always make it all the way over the fence...sometimes there were technical difficulties. (-:
It is pretty fun to see what these two come up with. Scary, at times, but fun. (-: They are certainly two very clever boys...let's just hope they make it to adulthood! Lol!

Babysitting Fun

Here are some pictures from when I had the joy of watching my neighbors 3 boys one evening about a month ago:

Miriam playing a game with Daniel and Matthew, two of her favorite little people.

Hmm...what are these boys up to?

Heave!

Oh yeah, this looks smart...

My best kept babysitting secret! Lol!

Miriam and Daniel walking to the park, so sweet!

Matthew and I walking to the park, there are few things quite as sweet as an itty, bitty hand in yours! (-:

I think this play structure is so cool! I think these guys like it too.

The bigger kids enjoy a rousing game of tag.

Isaiah on the move!

Miriam watching over Matthew.

Isaiah's good buddy Josh.

Matthew, sporting a cool hat, sails his Lego boat on the arm of our couch.

Matthew joins in the video gaming fun...

...at least in his mind, the remote control for Joshua's robot, Sid, was close enough for him! Too cute! (-:

Miriam at the park

I got some great pictures of Miriam at the park a couple weeks ago and I thought I'd share them with you. (-:

My pretty girl wearing her favorite necklace.

'Look mom, I can still fit in the baby swing!'

Down the slide...I just love this pic.

Monkey girl.

Strong monkey girl!

Our two youngest neighbors enjoying the park with us.

Miriam and Daniel stopping for a visit with a buggy friend.

I'm gonna get you!

'Superman flies with his hands like this.'

My favorite pic of the day.

Fun with a leaf-blower

Isaiah has certainly found a 'kindred spirit' in our 10-year-old neighbor, Samuel. We truly couldn't have asked for a better-suited friend for him! Here are some pictures of these two crazy boys having some fun in our yard with Samuel's leaf-blower.
Nice hair!

My, what a big mouth you have!

Little sister dances with joy at the fun of it all!

'Why do I have such a crazy brother?!'

Come on, Joshua, join in the fun!

Feel the wind-burn, baby!

Washing dishes

Here is my eccentric little girl washing dishes.

The cool backpack is a necessity.

Pouty face for the camera.

Purple sunglasses are important for washing dishes, too!

Miriam always keeps me smiling with her wardrobe and accessory choices. Sunglasses, necklaces, bracelets, backpacks, purses, dresses as often as possible. She can also get very creative with layering. It is fun to be a girl!

Isaiah's First Gun

Two summers ago while we were vacationing at my dad's house, Dad took Josh, Isaiah and Josh's best friend, Scott shooting and Isaiah fell in love with a lever-action 22 my dad has had since he was a boy. Josh has been talking about getting Isaiah one of his own for a while now and shortly after we got to Kodiak they got an order in which included a very nice lever action 22 which happened to have Isaiah's name on it. (-:
Here are a few pictures, taken by Josh, from the day Isaiah got to take his very own gun out for the first time.
To start out their day this beautiful eagle posed for a photograph right next to the road. Thus my husband, who rarely picks up a camera, got our first good picture of a bald eagle here in Kodiak! Go figure.

The boy and his gun.

Ready, Aim...Fire!

Bringing in the target.
Josh and Isaiah shot up this box full of packing paper, it was pretty fun to see what the paper looked like after they brought it home. Dad, you probably have an idea of what I'm talking about. Lol!
